Tinseltown

Meadham Kirchhoff seem to favour the surprise pounce tactic – first they send their models whizzing out in zombie army formation, doing two turns and the A/W 11-12 show is over in a flash and on Friday, they dropped their third collection for Topshop earlier than expected, spawning quickie newsflash posts all over the blogosphere.  The sense of urgency is emphasised but that’s not just down to timing not when TINSEL SKIRTS, SHREDDED and BLEACHED FLORALS mixed with BRETON and LEOPARD are involved.  Actually, the urgency placed upon tinsel skirts has already made itself known, seeing as both the pink and silver styles of foil strand skirts are now sold out on Topshop, with not much chance of restocking either as I was told by the shop staff that the collection came in limited run.  See?  Another instance of Meadha, Kirchhoff playing hard to get.

Essentials vs. Conscious – The H&M Simplicity Glamour

As spring arrives, the retailers start showing off their new collections. One of the most well known retailers of the world is the Swedish H&M.

We have all been looking forward for the new season, and the new products didn’t disappoint the buyers.

There is the Essentials collection, that focuses on well known items, such as jeans and trench coat, but they have been reinvented and so they got new power.

The main point of the new collection is to offer women a casual look through the combination of different elements, such as denim jacket and a feminine skirt.

Although the central idea is being casual, it doesn’t mean that people should be untidy. Act

Will A New Denim Line Save American Apparel?

In March, before word got out about just how bad American Apparel’s financial situation is, the company’s CEO Dov Charney announced that he’d unveil a denim line this month. On Monday, he sent out a press release detailing exactly what those jeans will look like. But with the company in so far over its head, we’re wondering whether or not a few pairs of jeans will be enough to save the company.

Fashionista got a copy of the press release, which as far as we can tell doesn’t address any of the company’s financial problems, or the fact that it might have to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It does say

Cacha-Change-A-Lot

>> In amidst the travelling between Moscow to London to Reykjavik, I almost forgot to react in some way to the news that Cédric Charlier is parting ways with Cacharel, who somewhat revived the brand in the past few seasons of his tenure.  Not that I necessarily react to every single fashion creative director merry-go-round news that occurs (and there’s a LOT of that going on at the moment…) but this one seemed like a shocker considering how MUCH his collections for Cacharel were critically rated and it seemed to me that it had a whole lot more store/shop presence too with the likes Opening Ceremony picking it up as well as doing the pop-up rounds with temporary spaces in Milan and Paris.

Beyond all the sensible facts though, I was personally quite taken with Charlier’s A/W 11-12 collection for Cacharel.  I very nearly posted before the news broke that Charlier was leaving, to say that his way with dealing with the sugary sweet floral print so associated with Cacharel, was continually clever and that I looked forward to his ways of consistently avoiding the obvious floral cliches.  Oh well… I gu

The Celebrity Craze About the Spring Leather Dress

The leather is back on the fashion scene, this time in a different and unusual presence. The leather dress is the new Hollywood look so don’t be surprised if you see your favorite star wearing a small leather dress in a vivid color.

Actually the black leather dress isn’t as fashionable as it is the neutral colored leather dress. The biggest fashion designers have included this amazing outfit to their latest spring collections.

The dress is suitable for office wear, as well as for a first date outfit, a romantic dinner, a party night or just a casual walk.

The leather has always been a universal fabric, but the colors are more than provocative this spring. The
