Start Saving! Karl Lagerfelds Macys Line Debuts Next Month
If, like us, you missed Karl Lagerfelds first low-priced collaboration with HM, fret not! The Chanel couturiers collection for Macys Impulse concept will be in stores next month (NEXT MONTH!) and it promises to be a whole lotta awesome.
Macys is expected to release details of the collection some time Wednesday, but Womens Wear Daily has reported that, starting at the end of August, it will be sold at 230 of the retailers stores that feature Impulse shops. These are mostly featured in bigger urban areas, but if you cant get to Macys Herald Square flagship in New York City or its Lenox Square unit in Atlanta, youll still be able to get Lagerfelds duds on Macys.com.
As weve reported before, Lagerfelds so-called masstige line is a one-off capsule collection, not an ongoing collaboration. Hes said to have folded his own signature style into the line, which means you can expect some rock-and-roll glamour, a few high collars and maybe even some fingerless gloves from the line. All of it is expected to be priced reasonably, but as weve said before, theres a difference between what fashion people think is reasonable and whats actually reasonable.
The Impulse concept started back in February with London-based designer Kinder Aggugini, followed up by a collection from Britains Matthew Williamson. Its been reported that Lagerfelds collection will be followed up with one from Italian designer, Giambattista Valli, whos well-known for his sculptural, forward-thinking shapes.
Lagerfeld, however, is expected to make a return to Macys during the holidays, when he, Aggugini, Williamson and Valli will make more exclusive product for the retailer. Naturally, a pretty heavy marketing campaign is expected, so look for print ads and commercials that look a little something like this, only with more awesome accents:
