When she burst on to cinema screens as schoolgirl Briony Tallis in 2007′s Atonement, Saoirse Ronan was praised for her charm and excess of talent.
Now, aged 17, the Carlow actress has grown into a star before our eyes – dare we say style icon? A regular at a host of high-profile awards ceremonies in recent months, thanks to her hit movie Hanna, Saoirse’s ubiquity has helped to win her the attention of the fashion world.

She has even been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Harry Potter star Emma Watson and sign on to work with leading British fashion house Burberry.
Alabaster pale with cornower blue eyes, Saoirse is willowy and strikingly pretty. Her performance in Atonement earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, but she received almost as much attention for her outfit – a V-cut emerald Alberta Ferretti gown, and her hair scraped back showing off her perfectly-sculpted facial features.
Even though the dress was lauded by the style press at the time, looking back, it was a little formal for a 13 year old girl. Since then, she has taken more and more control over her clothing, hair and make-up choices – creating her own unique look.
By the beginning of this year, for example, with Anna Wintour known to be taking an interest, she was being besieged by designers desperate to dress her for the Met Ball. But the young Irish actress didn’t do the predictable thing and wear a safe and classic look. Instead, she bravely opted for a deep rich red gown, with a red crepe bodice and sequined tulle skirt by the relatively unknown label, Rodarte.

Most recently she has been snapped wearing Irish designers such as John Rocha, Leighlee and Nina Divito.
